Intel
The Intel press conference at CES 2019 centered on the new Ice Lake laptop chip. This is Intel's first 10 nanometer PC processor for thin laptops, which will provide a better battery life and less heat triggered.
Ice Lake uses Intel's Sunny Cove micro architecture, which allows more tasks to be executed in parallel with algorithms to reduce latency. This chip also promises faster performance of artificial intelligence (AI), integration of Thunderbolt 3, and wifi support 6. Intel also announced Snow Ridge SoC 10 nm supports 5G technology.
Huawei and Honor
Over the past year, Huawei has been overwhelmed by the controversy surrounding alleged Chinese government espionage. Several countries, including the United States, have banned the use of Huawei network equipment, citing security concerns. The US even prevents Huawei smartphones from coming to the country.
However, that does not stop Huawei from bringing new items to CES 2019 even though it is quieter. Even though there is no announcement of a smartphone from Huawei or its sub-brand Honor, the Chinese giant has new laptops and tablets to display.
MateBook 13 is Huawei's newest middle-class laptop that rivals the MacBook Air. Huawei also revealed the Huawei MediaPad M5 Lite which is family-friendly, made of aluminum which is impact resistant.
Acer
Acer introduced the Chromebook 315 during CES 2019. It is scheduled to arrive in the first quarter of 2019, which will be the first all-in-one APU Chromebook produced by AMD. Acer usually uses Intel based processors on Chromebook, but the company chose APU specifically for this model to better support Chrome and Android based applications. APU (short for Accelerated Processing Unit) combines the CPU and GPU in one chip.
Acer also announced a new Windows 10 laptop, Swift 7. The 14-inch 1.920x1.080 pixel touch screen notebook has a very thin bezel, which allows it to have a screen to body ratio of 92%. This notebook body is also very thin at only 9.95 mm and very light only 1.96 pounds, because it is made of lithium-magnesium and magnesium-aluminum.
HP
HP announces the Chromebook x360 14 G1 and the Chromebook 14. The latter comes with an AMD A4 or A6 series in it, with a Radeon R4 or R5 GPU. It will also have a 14.366 x 768 pixel 14-inch screen with 180 degree hinges, with 4 GB RAM and 32 GB SSD storage. The HP Chromebook 14 also weighs 3.40 kilograms and has a battery life of 9 hours 15 minutes.
The stronger Chromebook x360 14 G1 comes with a Pentium CPU, Core i3, i5, or Intel 8th generation i7, depending on which model you want. This laptop has 16 GB RAM and 32 GB or 64 GB onboard storage.
